Dr Jerome Melon is a subspecialist Urogynaecologist (CU) and reconstructive pelvic surgeon, as well as a specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (FRANZCOG).

Qualifications

Jerome has been practicing since 2007, and obtained his specialist qualification from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in early 2018 after undertaking subspecialist fellowship training in Urogynaecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS). He has been treating pelvic floor conditions for over 10 years. Throughout his career, he has worked and trained around Australia, Hong Kong and Canada – as well as most recently volunteering in Senegal, West Africa.

Current Employment

Jerome has a public appointment as a Urogynaecologist at Gold Coast University Hospital and The Queensland Pelvic Mesh Service, as well as consulting privately at Pindara Private Hospital (Gold Coast), and Greenslopes Private Hospital (Brisbane).

Patient Experience

Jerome values every patient experience and strongly believes in informed consent and shared decision making. Jerome strives to create an environment where patients are comfortable to make their best individual choices. He is a highly trained subspecialist surgeon who having worked in internationally renowned institutions, can offer all forms of abdominal, vaginal and minimally invasive surgeries to treat pelvic floor dysfunction. Jerome has authored several research papers in this field and is a reviewer for the International Urogynecological Journal. He is also heavily involved and passionate about the teaching of subspecialist trainees, sitting on the Board of Examiners for the Certification in Urogynaecology (CU) subspecialist examinations.

Hobbies

Outside of work, Jerome is a humble and passionate traveller who loves to learn from the experiences of others around the world. In his downtime, he can be found adventuring in an ocean swimming event or a kayaking competition.
